Ginger Week

Ginger is commonly used to treat various types of stomach problems, including motion sickness, morning sickness, colic, upset stomach, gas, diarrhea, and nausea. Fresh and ground ginger seem to have completely different uses. Ground is so much more subtle, while fresh is strong and a difference maker in a dish. I love the smell of fresh ginger. One of my favorite ways to eat ginger is candied. I usually buy it as a treat but if you're interested in making it here is a recipe by Alton Brown. Other ways I use it are in sauces and stir fries.
